A General Practitioner from Cleethorpes, North East Lincolnshire, is voicing concerns over the seemingly effortless manner in which weight-loss injections, commonly dubbed as ‘skinny jabs’, can be accessed online. Dr Ali Ilyas has reported that certain online pharmacies negligently prescribe these medications, void of ensuring that the patients meet pertinent health criteria. The doctor pointed out a troubling trend where patients manage to bypass crucial consultations by purposely providing false information on online forms.
Despite the firm guidelines from the General Pharmaceutical Council mandating rigorous checks, test purchases shockingly revealed that these medications could be acquired with doctored information. Dr Ilyas stressed upon the incumbent responsibility of the providers to validate the suitability of these prescriptions, cautioning the public about the potential health hazards that may arise due to absence of certified medical guidance.
