Olympic Champion Alistair Brownlee Launches Triathlon Academy in Grimsby

Olympic champion Alistair Brownlee has launched a new triathlon training programme in Grimsby, with the aim of fostering young sporting talent. This endeavour, in partnership with British Triathlon, involves local schools Havelock Academy and Humberston Academy offering a ‘Triathlon Academy’. This allows students to combine their academic studies with athletic training. Brownlee, together with his partner and professional Iron Man competitor Ruth Astle, displayed their enthusiasm for the programme, emphasising the significance of combining education with sports training. The programme caters to students aged 12 to 18, providing up to 10 hours of training in swimming, cycling, and running. Principal of Havelock Academy, Emma Marshall, praised the initiative, predicting that it will open the door for local students to compete at both national and international levels.
