Lincoln Foodbank Issues Urgent Appeal as Stocks Dwindle

Title: Emergency Call for Donations comes as Lincoln Foodbank Faces Depleting Stocks

The Lincoln Foodbank, a charitable operation run by the Acts Trust in partnership with The Trussell Trust, has made an urgent request for donations, with a severe drop in food supplies being reported. Staff at the establishment have noted a discouraging drop in donations since the start of the year, accompanied by a steady increase in requisitions from local, impoverished residents. Carolyn Bradbury, the services manager for Lincoln Foodbank, voiced serious concerns, revealing, “The situation is critical. Our food stocks could last about two fortnights if no additional donations come in. We have never faced this kind of scarcity before.”

The food bank, tasked with distributing between 150 to 160 food parcels weekly, finds itself in the extraordinary circumstance of potentially having to buy food to keep up with the demand. Each food parcel is composed of a minimum of three day’s meals for individuals or families. Bradbury stressed the underlying mission, saying “Our purpose is to assist those in need and, without food, we cannot fulfil this aim. The most effective way to lend a hand is to donate. Regardless of the size of the contribution, place it in a donation tub and we will make sure it reaches those in need.”

Lincoln Foodbank encourgages its supporters to utilise the BanktheFood app, which regularly updates on the specific items that are in short supply. Moreover, multiple supermarkets in Lincoln have established drop-off points for non-perishable items. The Trussell Trust, a nationwide network supporting UK food banks, cites the same difficulties encompassing the whole of the UK, with rising costs impairing the efficacy of donations. They strongly advise anyone in need to reach out to their local food bank for assistance.
