Firefighters Complete Lincoln to Bradford Walk, Raising £56k for Burns Unit

Firefighters have triumphantly raised a remarkable £56,000 for the Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit at the University of Bradford to mark the 40th anniversary of the sorrowful Bradford City fire. The fundraising initiatives included a demanding 75-mile walk from Lincoln to Bradford alongside a special Bradford City Legends football match and a charity dinner. The finances raised will bolster the research unit, originally established in the aftermath of the fatal Valley Parade fire in 1985, which resulted in 56 fatalities and numerous injuries, including the Lincoln City fans who were present for their team’s match against Bradford City. Crew manager Mark Hayward extended his gratitude towards everyone who participated in these events, with particular acknowledgement of the taxing but fulfilling walk from Lincoln. The unit persists in its trailblazing work on burns and scar treatments with the ongoing backing of the community and emergency services.
