Barrie Hall, an 82-year-old resident of Lincoln, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison following his admittance to several sexual offences against three schoolgirls spanning a 40-year period. These crimes initiated in the 1980s and continued for three decades.
The sentence was handed out at the Lincoln Crown Court where Recorder, John Hardy KC, acknowledged the seriousness of Hall’s crimes and suggested that he may consequently live out his remaining years in custody. Hall, a resident of St Andrew’s Gardens, Lincoln, pleaded guilty to nine separate offences, including rape and sexual assault.
Hall’s charges incorporated the rape of an underage girl, four counts of indecent assault on the same individual, and an instance of gross indecency. Further offences included assaults on two girls, both under the age of 13. Police were made aware of Hall’s actions in 2024, instigated by a victim coming forward.
A search of the offender’s home by the police led to the discovery of a blow-up doll, sex toys, and sweets. Despite Hall’s previous charitable contributions towards cancer charities, his criminal history comprises of 12 convictions for indecent exposure, with the most recent charge dating back to 1980.
Impact statements presented by victims in court illustrated the extent of Hall’s devastating influence. One victim expressed relief at the sentence, announcing, “You have not got away with what you have done. Now it is time for your nightmare to begin.” Another victim expounded on her enduring fear and anxiety, revealing how she feels insecure when wearing dresses or shorts.
