A Week of Courage, Community Spirit and Camaraderie in Lincolnshire

Over the past week in Lincolnshire, we’ve experienced a myriad of emotions together, showing unparalleled support for each other through both trials and jubilations. Our community paid touching tributes to a much-loved local mother and saluted the exceptional bravery of a couple battling cancer together. An innate admiration towards our vital firefighting crews was kindled during ‘have a go’ event, devised by Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue; a potent symbol of the courage and commitment intrinsic to our community.

The local gardens, flourishing under the advice provided by June’s gardening tips, facilitate an ever blossoming appreciation for Lincolnshire’s innate beauty, further accentuated by shared images. In recognition of our military personnel’s services, flags will proudly flutter across the county to commemorate National Armed Forces Day. Additionally, the uplifting tale of Roxie, a nurse hailing from Grimsby who is converting her personal struggle into a source of inspiration on social media, embodies the tender-hearted spirit of Lincolnshire.

We rejoiced in community achievements, such as securing funds for indispensable upgrades at the Grimsby Ice Rink as well as the reprieve for Humberston Hydrotherapy Pool, facilitated by a triumphant fundraising initiative and public health grant. The community rallied in support of those in desperate need, with appeals from Grimsby Baby Bank for assistance after their supplies suffered damage from dampness and mould, and the local social housing group’s efforts to equip kitchen appliances for those making a fresh start.

As a testament to our unity and determination, we congregated for the RAF Waddington Personnel’s march in Lincoln City Centre to mark the return of Lincoln Pride and paid tribute to Jean-Paul ‘JP’ Perry with a poignant balloon release. As we anticipate the coming week, we persist in cherishing the essence of warmth, humour and wholesome efforts unique to us. Let us remain ardent in supporting our local charities, particularly during the Small Charity Week. Here’s to anticipating another week abundant in vibrancy, empathy, and spirit in our beloved Lincolnshire.
