Beloved Three-Legged Puma Nigel Passes Away at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park

Lincolnshire Wildlife Park is in mourning following the loss of Nigel, their prized three-legged puma. Known and loved by park visitors from all corners, Nigel had become a symbol of determination and warmth throughout his time at the park. His residency, which began in his youth, sadly drew to a close when he was put to sleep to alleviate the discomfort of his ongoing health issues, which included arthritis and eye problems.

Steve Nichols, the park’s head, expressed heartfelt thanks for the wave of sympathy that has emanated from the local community and further afield. He highlighted the deep influence Nigel had on all who met him. This influence was particularly felt throughout the global pandemic, where captivity life was streamed over the internet for park fans to enjoy at home. Supporters of the park came together to raise nearly £5,000 to aid Nigel’s treatment, reflecting the meaningful bond that had been created with this extraordinary animal.

In memory of his enduring influence, a monument will be erected in the enclosure Nigel once inhabited. This lasting tribute ensures that Nigel’s spirit will continue to inspire visitors to the Lincolnshire Wildlife Park for generations to come.
