Stamford Community Mourns Young Boy’s Tragic Allergy Death

The Stamford community is in mourning over the tragic loss of five-year-old Benedict Blythe, who died from an allergic reaction at Barnack Primary School in December 2021. Teaching assistants at the school, nestled between Peterborough and Stamford, struggled to contain their emotions as they shared the events of that fateful day during an ongoing inquest at Peterborough City Hall.

Benedict, who had asthma and a series of allergies including reactions to milk and eggs, had collapsed before being given an adrenaline auto-injector and CPR. Regrettably, despite the relentless efforts to save him, Benedict was declared dead at Peterborough City Hospital.

His parents, who had shared a thorough account of his allergies with the school, are left heartbroken by this devastating event. Benedict’s father remembered him as an ‘exceptionally bright child’ who had a love for school. The inquest is ongoing, looking to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this melancholic incident, as the Stamford community grapples with this severe loss.
