A commendable 79-year-old Keelby resident, John Whitbread, has successfully accomplished a demanding 400-mile charitable bicycle ride throughout Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire. His efforts have brought in more than £2,500 in support of multiple charitable foundations, comprising LIVES first responders, Cancer Research UK, and Dementia UK.
Mr Whitbread had originally scheduled a more extensive journey to Berwick-Upon-Tweed. However, due to his wife’s illness, he adjusted his course to remain nearer home. His route took him via local points of interest like Mablethorpe, Horncastle, Lincoln Cathedral, and Gainsborough, enduring a notably rainy ride at the latter.
In spite of the challenging circumstances, Mr Whitbread received a warm reception from LIVES volunteers, who offered tea and brownies in celebration of his accomplishment. He remains hopeful of generating even more funds, setting a target of £3,000 to bolster his selected charities and his local parish, St Bartholomew’s.
