The people of Lincolnshire are being called upon to express their views during the newest consultations concerning the disputed oil drilling schemes in the Lincolnshire Wolds. The planning for an oilfield at Biscathorpe, earlier discarded due to a Supreme Court judgement, is once again being examined. The court underscored the importance of including fossil fuel combustion emissions in planning considerations. Egdon Resources, the developer responsible, has presented updated data regarding the climate impact of the proposed drilling operation, which can be viewed by the public on the Lincolnshire County Council’s planning portal. The cut-off date for contributions from the public is July 28th. Although Egdon Resources asserts the ongoing necessity for oil and gas, local campaign group SOS Biscathorpe vehemently disagrees, citing ecological concerns and the safeguarding of the Lincolnshire Wolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
