Spalding Man Denies Kidnap Plot in Lincoln Crown Court

Daniel Algar, age 41 and a resident of Spalding, is currently under trial at Lincoln Crown Court, facing charges of an alleged attempted kidnap of Gary Leggate, the spouse of Algar’s partner. Alongside Algar in the trial is co-accused, Lucy Leggate, 35, hailing from Fishtoft, close to Boston. Both accused fervently refute the allegations stemming from an event dated 22 September 2022. Prosecution counsel argues that Algar, concealed behind a mask, intended to seize control of Leggate by covertly positioning himself in the latter’s automobile. Algar, however, asserts that these claims by Leggate are the fruit of deliberate deception prompted by an ongoing dispute related to Algar’s affair with Leggate’s wife. Algar, in court, conceded the factuality of video surveillance footage showing an unidentified individual gaining access to Leggate’s car but emphatically denied that the person bore any resemblance to him. The case, which has drawn significant community interest, continues to proceed with both parties putting forth their evidence.
