A former retailer in Spalding has received a 22-month prison sentence having been convicted of holding an excess of 77,000 undeclared cigarettes and 16kg of hand-rolled tobacco. 36-year-old Jutyar Jelal Salah was apprehended by Trading Standard officials whilst recovering the illicit cigarettes from a storage unit, with the aim to disseminate them through a residential delivery scheme. Salah, the proprietor of Easy Shop located on Station Street, confronted two closure mandates in September 2023 and April 2024 following inspection operations implemented by Lincolnshire County Council.
