North Lincolnshire Council is preparing to provide more air fryers to pensioners as a means of easing their household expenses. The previous winter saw the distribution of 6,000 air fryers, enabled by a generous £2.3 million grant from the Household Support Fund coordinated by the Government. Information obtained through a Freedom of Information request indicated that the initiative required over £650,000 in funding. At a recent council assembly, the framework for this year’s scheme was outlined, with Rob Waltham, the council leader, noting the project’s extensive reach and its key role in helping elderly residents navigate the ongoing cost of living crisis. In addition to the air fryers, pensioners deemed eligible for the scheme can apply for slow-cookers and one-cup kettles. The registration process can be completed online or via local community centres and the distribution is slated to begin in September.
