Three-time world speedway champion Tai Woffinden, hailing from Scunthorpe, has made a triumphant return to the track following a serious crash earlier this year in Poland. The 34-year-old was put in a medically induced coma following a collision with a fence positioned behind a protective barrier during a March race.
Aninspiring video shared on social media displayed Woffinden at a vacant Olympic Stadium in Wroclaw, donning his speedway bike once more. The Sheffield Tigers’ rider conveyed his drive, saying, ‘The last four months have been the most significant challenge of my life, but I approach every trial the same way: fall down, rise immediately and persist.’
Woffinden’s comeback is not merely a reflection of his determination, but it also signifies a moment of honour for his birthplace of Scunthorpe and the broader Lincolnshire community.
