Anglian Water Raises Concerns Over Proposed Data Centre in North Lincolnshire

Anglian Water has expressed apprehension towards the planned development of an artificial intelligence data centre based in Elsham Wolds Industrial Estate, situated on the A15 in North Lincolnshire. There are significant worries about the implications on water supply and increased flood risks. The region is considered one of the driest in the country, further fuelling these concerns.

Anglian Water accentuated the necessity for meticulous water-resource management, querying if the data centre might favour pristine drinking water above undrinkable alternatives. Geoff Darch of Anglian Water proposed that data centres should employ treated wastewater for cooling purposes and be located near water recycling plants, reducing stress on resources. North Lincolnshire Council is currently unable to provide a statement as the proposal is still being examined.
