Lincolnshire residents charged in major hare coursing investigation

A major investigation into hare coursing has resulted in several charges, including against Lincolnshire residents. The joint operation led by Cambridgeshire Police involved numerous police forces such as Lincolnshire Police, in an effort to confront the rural crime affecting various communities across the region.

The incident involved numerous 4×4 vehicles assembling in fields and villages, resulting in serious damage to crops and property. In total, the investigation has led to 25 individuals being charged and 43 arrests. Among those charged are residents from Spalding and Grantham, underscoring the local link to this wide-reaching issue.

Detective Inspector Matthew Selves recognised the damaging effect of these crimes on rural communities and underscored the desire to ensure offenders face legal consequences. The investigation highlights the critical importance of inter-police force cooperation in addressing rural crimes efficaciously and safeguarding local communities.

The individuals charged are due to appear in court this September as authorities persist in their efforts to tackle the damage and challenges arising from such activities in the region.
