Lincolnshire Zoo Mourns the Loss of UK’s Oldest Meerkat

Title: Lincolnshire Zoo Grieves Over the Death of UK’s Oldest Meerkat

The Ark Wildlife Park, situated in Stickney near Boston, Lincolnshire, is in sorrow following the demise of Sam, reputed to be the UK’s most aged meerkat at 20 years old. Sam peacefully drew her final breath in her sleep on Tuesday. She was saved from a restricted existence in a rabbit hutch where she was held as an exotic pet over ten years ago and promptly became the leading female of the meerkat group at the park. Jamie Mintram, who manages the wildlife park with his wife, articulated the team’s collective sorrow: ‘The loss has affected all of us, despite our anticipation of it. As Sam grew old, it gave us much consolation knowing she must have found contentment with us given her long stay.’
