Plans have been approved for the projected most extensive floating solar farm in the UK to be located at Grimsby docks. The scheme is part of a wider £100 million redevelopment of the Grade II-listed historic Ice Factory complex. As well as the solar farm, the site will house a 1,000-seat event space, a conference centre, offices, and a 161-room hotel. The solar farm forms a crucial part of the project’s broader renewable energy generation strategy and is expected to provide free heating and power to the complex’s tenants for a quarter of a century. The project is in line with Grimsby and Lincolnshire’s larger vision of sustainable development.
