Spalding motorists are being advised of possible fines as Lincolnshire County Council is set to finalise the implementation of new traffic signs and road markings in the town centre’s pedestrian area. The last part of the plan, involving traffic indicators and road markers, is due to begin on Monday. Absolutely no parking will be permitted in the Market Place and Hall Place at any time, with these modifications also influencing local parking provisions. Vehicle entry limitations will be restored daily between 10:00 and 16:00 BST.
This change comes after a consultation held by South Holland District Council about the implementation of the previously existing pedestrian rules. District and county council member, Councillor Rob Gibson, spoke of his pleasure at the ongoing developments, saying it felt as though the problem had been going on for too long for Spalding’s residents, and he was glad they were on the verge of resolving it.
After the completion of the works, penalties will be imposed on vehicles that park or traverse the pedestrian area during the announced restricted hours. Outside these times, enterprises and utilities will be permitted to enter the area for deliveries and maintenance.
