A mesmerising display of sand art has taken centre stage at Fitties Beach in Humberston, North East Lincolnshire, forming part of an effort to underline the importance of beach safety. The intricately designed artwork, expertly created by Chris Warner-Neil, seeks to highlight the ‘Coast Clever’ campaign. The significance of this campaign cannot be overstressed, considering that HM Coastguard has had to respond to over 600 incidents of people being cut off by the tide in the past year. Pat O’Callaghan, the Chief Coastguard, underscored that a large portion of these perilous situations could be eschewed if visitors to the beach are sufficiently informed of the potential dangers and risks present along the coastline.
