Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Issues Urgent Wildfire Warning Amid Rising Temperatures

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue has issued a strong warning against the use of disposable barbecues amid rising temperatures, due to an increased risk of wildfires. As warm weather perseveres, the service has noted a serious increase in outdoor fire incidents, having responded to 153 calls this past June, a number that comes alarmingly close to the 384 total calls received over the entire summer period of 2024.

Local authorities are advising residents to be vigilant about fire safety, suggesting that cigarettes should be thoroughly extinguished and correctly disposed of. In addition, they are advising against the lighting of bonfires. Amanda Matson, who is the head of community fire prevention, underlined the crucial necessity of avoiding unnecessary risks. “Most outdoor fires occur as a result of accidents,” Matson explained, “which is why it is of utmost importance that risks are not taken lightly.”
