Residents throughout Lincolnshire recently rallied to address local littering, taking part in a significant effort to clean up their communities. The activity took place last Saturday, with volunteers converging around the Gatehouse Inn in Bracebridge, Lincoln and the RNLI lifeguard station in Sutton on Sea. The event was the Greater Lincolnshire Litter Pick, an initiative spearheaded by the Lincoln and District Trades Council.
Bradley Wall, the chair of the event, underlined the importance of both fostering a sense of community spirit and enhancing the local environment. Various objects were collected during the cleanup, including a discarded mattress, surplus bottles, cigarette ends, and beverage can tops.
Participant Barbara Knight shared her surprise and frustration at the substantial presence of litter. She underscored the necessity of teaching young individuals the right way to dispose of waste. Andy, another volunteer who attended the cleanup with his children Charlie and Daisy, stressed the importance of environmental care and community esteem.
