Dr Caroline Johnson, the Member of Parliament for Sleaford and North Hykeham, has called upon the Attorney General’s Office to reconsider the sentencing of Natasha Allarakhia. Allarakhia received a 10-year prison sentence following her involvement in a fatal accident on the A17 near North Rauceby that claimed the lives of two teenagers.
The unfortunate incident took place in June of the previous year. Allarakhia, who was driving at 96mph while intoxicated, failed to recognise a Ford Fiesta stopped at temporary traffic signals. The resultant collision led to the untimely demise of 17-year-old William Ray and 18-year-old Eddie Shore. Concurrently, Jack Prince, 18, sustained severe, life-altering injuries.
Dr Johnson has criticised the sentence handed down to Allarakhia as excessively lenient. She believes it does not sufficiently encapsulate the seriousness of Allarakhia’s actions, which have profoundly impacted the lives of the victims’ families and have sent shockwaves through the local community.
