Inspector Overturns Council Decision, Approves 249 Homes in North East Lincolnshire

Almost 250 new houses are expected to be constructed in North East Lincolnshire, following the approval of a planning inspector who overruled an initial rejection by the council. Despite the council’s initial dismissal of Cyden Homes’ proposal in November 2024 due to concerns over traffic and air quality, the planning inspector has passed the development of 249 homes on Louth Road in New Waltham. The inspector assessed that the adverse effects on the Toll Bar roundabout would be insignificant as it already operates at maximum capacity. Furthermore, the proposal was also deemed to have negligible impacts on air quality. The new development scheme includes houses varying from two to five bedrooms and will also incorporate a public open space, boasting equipment for children to play with, thus providing a holistic environment for families.
