Scunthorpe Mother and Daughter Banned from Keeping Animals After Dog Found in Dire State

Two individuals from Lincolnshire have received a ten-year ban on animal ownership due to a grave incident of animal neglect. Their Lhasa Apso dog, Sade, was found in such a horrendous state that euthanasia was deemed the only humane course of action.

Candice Dakota Taylor, 24, of Kirton Lindsey, and Diane Mary Higson, 58, of Scunthorpe, were taken to court at Grimsby Magistrates after confessing to their failure in safeguarding their dog from pain. The RSPCA’s Mollie Masters discovered Sade in a lamentable state at the pair’s previous Scunthorpe home. The dog was heavily infested with fleas, drastically underweight and was enduring multiple health problems in addition to extreme matting.

Both Taylor and Higson attributed their negligence to their own mental health issues, which they said hampered their ability to provide adequate care. In addition to a decade-long ban on pet ownership, the court has issued fines and community orders. Furthermore, Higson’s existing pets have been seized for rehoming.

This heart-breaking incident underscores the necessity of guaranteeing that domestic pets receive the appropriate level of care and attention.
