Title: Distressed Kittens Discovered in Abandoned Sack by Boston Chip Shop
Content:
A distressing find was uncovered in the vicinity of a Boston-based fish and chip shop on Fishtoft Road, Lincolnshire; an assortment of kittens were discovered abandoned inside of a refuse sack. The kittens, appearing to be suffering from cat flu, were immediately escorted to a local veterinary clinic by a conscientious passerby. Regrettably, one kitten’s health was so seriously compromised that it had to be put to sleep, while the remaining six are now under RSPCA supervision.
RSPCA rescue worker, Paula Jones, displayed visible upset over the incident – particularly as these kittens were a mere seven weeks of age. She expressed her heartache: ‘It’s truly devastating to witness such young creatures experiencing hardship, given that they’ve only recently been brought into the world. Furthermore, realising that someone could’ve easily abandoned them in such a time of need is wrenching.’ Although acknowledging the financial struggles that many are currently up against, Jones emphasised that such abandonment was inexcusable. She encouraged pet owners to utilise available resources and support.
The RSPCA pointed out that summer is commonly known as ‘kitten season’, as there’s usually an increase in litter births between May and September. This spike often results in a surplus of cats needing care and attention. The charity has observed an unparalleled rise in needy cats this year and is urging cat owners in Lincolnshire (and further afield) to neuter their pets to prevent any similar situations from arising.
