Traffic Lights Proposed for ‘Lethal’ Metheringham Junction

Title: Proposed Traffic Lights for High-Risk Metheringham Junction

Revised Content:
Traffic lights may soon be a prominent feature at the perilous Metheringham crossroads – the junction where the A15 and Heath Lane intersect. Lincolnshire County Council is set to receive a recommendation proposing this safety upgrade. This action is prompted by multiple accidents at the site, which has led to this junction being categorised as one of the county’s top five areas for traffic mishaps.

Local residents, voiced by North Kesteven District Council’s Fran Pembery, underscored the pressing requirement for advancements, characterising the junction as highly risky. A source of ongoing concern, the crossroads is infamous for its regular accidents. This issue was highlighted following a highly distressing event last year, in which a man in his 60s tragically lost his life.

The junction, which experiences heavy traffic, especially during rush hours, leaves drivers on Heath Lane feeling pressurised into making hazardous decisions or enduring lengthy delays while waiting to join the A15.

The review of this report, surrounding the implementation of traffic lights, is penned into the agenda for the forthcoming meeting of the County Council’s highways and transport committee next week.
