Free Fitness Scheme in North Lincolnshire Sees Nearly 800 Participants

A scheme recently introduced with the aim of supporting older residents and those with disabilities in maintaining their fitness has drawn close to 800 participants in just a three-month span. Launched in April by the North Lincolnshire Council, the programme grants eight weeks of free off-peak use of swimming, gym facilities, and virtual fitness classes. From April to July, the scheme attracted 788 individuals seeking to make good use of this opportunity. Councillor Rob Waltham, head of the North Lincolnshire Council, underscored the programme’s impact, stating: ‘By eliminating financial constraints, we’re facilitating people’s ability to stay active, social and physically and mentally well.’
