Jason Price, a 54-year-old resident of Grantham, has pleaded guilty to four counts of fraud. These charges came after Price falsely claimed he had uncovered historical artefacts while metal detecting in Lincolnshire. The supposedly discovered items included a brooch, Roman coins and figurines, which Price claimed to have found in the Roxholm and Long Bennington areas. Between September 2019 and August 2023, Price made these fraudulent submissions to the Finds Officer at Lincolnshire County Council. The case saw proceedings at Lincoln Crown Court on Thursday, during which Price admitted his guilt. Both the sentencing and a fact-finding trial are due to take place on 7 November.
