Delays in Hospital Transfer Stall Sentencing in Spalding Murder Case

A judge has expressed criticism over the delays in presenting the sentence of Brian Simpson, implicated in the sad demise of Kristine Sparane in her residence in Spalding. The 37-year-old victim was found in her flat on Winsover Road, having sustained fatal injuries on the 26th of November. Initially charged with murder, 64-year-old Simpson was deemed unfit for a criminal trial due to mental health concerns, and a trial of facts was undertaken instead. The Lincoln Crown Court was notified that Simpson’s relocation from prison to a secure hospital for psychiatric assessment has been deferred, owing to the pending confirmation of a suitable placement.
