Sarah Gascoyne, a resident of Grantham in Lincolnshire, has shared the inspiring story of her daughter Annabelle’s double lung transplant at the age of four. Two decades ago, the awaited donor call for her daughter came denoted by the sound of Sarah’s bleeper. Annabelle, suffering from primary pulmonary hypertension, was immediately taken to Great Ormond Street Hospital to undergo the critical procedure. Despite challenging odds, the operation was a triumph and Annabelle, now 25, is living a robust life.

Sarah ardently encourages fellow Lincolnshire inhabitants to hold discussions about organ donation within their kin. Presently, with 108 people in the county on the waiting list for an organ transplant and 55 transplants performed from deceased donors in the past year, she insists on the essentiality of these discussions.

Reflecting on the profound impact of this journey on Annabelle and the entire family, Sarah hopes that her account will motivate others to contemplate organ donation.
