Grimsby’s Corporation Bridge Repairs Face Delays, Leaving Residents Frustrated

The historic Corporation Bridge in Grimsby, which has been shut since February 2023, continues to face hold-ups in its restoration. Originally set to complete within a year, the refurbishments have now stretched for over two and a half years, without a definitive completion date in sight. North East Lincolnshire Council recognises the importance of refurbishing this centenarian structure and has appointed Taziker, a specialist in bridge restoration, to lead the project by the end of October. Professor Fin O’Flaherty, an expert on Infrastructure Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University, provides insights into the complex factors leading to the extended timeline.
