A Lincoln resident is currently undergoing proceedings at Ipswich Crown Court, with charges of aiding illegal immigration levelled against him. Tomas Venclauskas, 41, dwelling at Arboretum View, Lincoln, coupled with Karolis Laurinavicius, 40, a resident of Essex, are under accusation for allegedly aiding unlawful immigration.
Prosecution maintains that both individuals utilised a powerboat at their disposal, sailing it from Southampton to Belgium. The objective of this journey is claimed to have been five Albanian men whom they subsequently transported back to England. Their entry point into the country was Shotley Marina, located in Suffolk.
The court heard that the discovery of the Albanians came about when Border Force officers located them in a cabin at the marina. One of these individuals was reportedly a 17-year-old. Upon being confronted with these allegations, the defendants have taken a stance of denial. They assert their innocence, claiming a lack of awareness about the Albanian men whilst contending that their presence in Belgium occurred due to an unwitting mistake.
