A considerable fire has broken out at Mid UK Recycling situated in the Copper Hill industrial estate in Barkston Heath, near Grantham, Lincolnshire. The fire, commencing around 5.20pm on Saturday, October 19th, engendered thick smoke that engulfed the neighbouring villages.
Emergency services promptly reacted to the incident, advising inhabitants in adjacent regions, including Sudbrooke, Ancaster, and Barkston, to confine their windows and doors to prevent exposure to the smoke.
Lincolnshire Police have declared their attendance at the scene and recommended caution due to the smoke adversely affecting visibility on proximate roads, encompassing the A52. Thankfully, no harm has been reported at this stage.
Information from the authorities suggests that, considering prevailing weather conditions, smoke may sway extra neighbouring villages. Residents are encouraged to stay alert and execute relevant risk measures.
