Immingham Fire Crews Receive Donated Train for Terror Response Training

Lincolnshire-based firefighters stand to benefit from a donation of a former Heathrow Express train carriage aimed at enhancing their emergency response training. The carriage, kindly gifted by Siemens Mobility, will be situated at the training facility of the Humberside Fire and Rescue Service in Immingham.

Chief Fire Officer Phil Shillito has spoken out on the value of this donation, asserting it will markedly enhance the realism of the training scenarios available to the firefighters. This addition will equip them to prepare for an array of emergency situations, such as rail derailments and terrorist assaults. The project also carries the potential to offer great educational benefits for youngsters and cadets.

Siemens Mobility laid emphasis on the significance of reusing materials, and argued how the long life-span of the carriage will continue to contribute to the betterment of the society. As part of the first mainline train Siemens sold in the UK, the carriage served the Heathrow to London Paddington route before its shift to Siemens’ Goole site.
