Driffield Pub Landlord Jailed for ‘Horrific’ Sexual Offences Against Young Girls

Roy Borrowdale, a pub landlord from Driffield, has received a 25-year prison sentence for a series of serious sexual offences inflicted on underage girls. Borrowdale’s actions were made known when one young victim reported him to the Humberside Police in 2018. Following the report, a thorough investigation uncovered a sinister series of repeated abuse. The trial at Grimsby Crown Court resulted in Borrowdale being found guilty on numerous charges, encompassing both sexual activity with a minor and rape. The case serves as a prominent reminder of the importance of community vigilance, notably in areas such as East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, in protecting at-risk individuals. Detective Constable Nichola Oakley from Humberside Police has expressed her hope that this verdict will go some way towards providing comfort to the victims and their families.
