North East Lincolnshire Council has granted planning permission for a new driving test centre in Grimsby. The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) intends to transform the currently unused offices at Olympia House, located off Appian Way, into the new centre. It is anticipated that this development will help reduce the pressure on the availability of driving tests, which is a widespread issue in Lincolnshire and the rest of the UK due to a nationwide backlog of test bookings. The existing Grimsby Coldwater test centre will remain operational until the establishment of the new centre. The DVSA’s objective is to offer a full-time, user-friendly service to Grimsby from Monday to Saturday between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The new centre is projected to conduct up to 36 vehicle tests on several weekdays to help lower waiting times for local learner drivers.
