Once listed among the top three small music venues across the UK, the Lincoln Imp was a home for local musicians and supporters alike. American rock group Wheatus who made an appearance in 2018, remembered the dynamic spirit of the venue and the warm reception given by the former landlady Lorraine Briggs. Briggs, who saw over the venue for nearly a decade, revealed her heartbreak over the closure and plans for destruction. Despite North Lincolnshire Council’s initial rejection of the plans and a public campaign that collected in excess of 1,600 signatures, the verdict was again concluded in favour of the demolition in September 2024, hence permitting the purchase by new proprietors, Shape Land and Property Limited. The edifice, which bears an Asset of Community Value inscription, will be succeeded by 20 single-bedroom flats supervised by Ongo Homes, catering to local requirement for affordable accommodation.
