Restoration of ‘Just Jane’ Lancaster Bomber Progresses at East Kirkby

In the tranquil backdrop of a wartime airstrip in Lincolnshire, work continues to rehabilitate the famed Lancaster bomber NX611, lovingly dubbed ‘Just Jane’, to a flight-worthy state. The commendable venture was started by Fred and Harold Panton, as a tribute to their brother Christopher – one of the countless Bomber Command personnel lost in the Second World War. Now, guided by the hand of Andrew Panton, Fred’s grandsom, the task of restoration at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre in East Kirkby has breached the midpoint of its projected 10-year timeline, with ambitions to see a third Lancaster gracing the skies once again.
