Installation of Telegraph Poles in Lincoln Paused Amid Community Concerns

Openreach has temporarily ceased the erection of telegraph poles in the Birchwood and Hartsholme areas of Lincoln due to resident anxieties. The project is a key part of a nationwide move towards a full fibre network, aiming to provide improved broadband to local homes and businesses. Ashley Behan of the Lincolnshire County Council highlighted the necessity for Openreach to interact extensively with the local community. He insisted that the corporation adhere to best practice by keeping residents properly informed and a part of the process. Independent Councillor Biff Bean took issue with deploying ‘1950s-style’ telegraph poles, arguing in favour of subterranean cables. Openreach has recognised these issues and has scheduled meetings with regional MPs and the council to dive deeper into the matter.
