In an incident that has deeply affected the local community, two individuals, a woman and a girl, who were detained on the grounds of suspicion relating to a child’s death in Scunthorpe, have since been released on conditional bail. The initial call to Humberside Police was made by paramedics who were attending a property on Searby Road just around 09:00 GMT on Monday. They were responding to an emergency case of a six-year-old boy undergoing a significant medical event. Despite immediate transfer to hospital, the young boy passed away a short time later. Detective Chief Inspector Ben Robinson is leading the ongoing investigation. He confirmed that the 38-year-old woman and 17-year-old girl, who were initially arrested in connection with the case, have been released as the investigative process continues.
