The Cranwell Aviation Heritage Museum, nestled near Sleaford, Lincolnshire is set to momentarily close for a renovation period. From 1 December, the Museum will not be accessible to the public for a span of three months as it undergoes refurbishments. These improvements to the institution, supported by the North Kesteven District Council, will encompass amendments to the overall layout, exhibition regions, cafe, and the gift shop.
The Museum first opened its doors to the public in 1992, and is lauded for presenting the history of the neighbouring Royal Air Force College. It houses a range of exhibits, including a flight simulator. The Council Leader, Richard Wright, an RAF veteran himself, conveyed his eagerness for this endeavour, underlining its importance in enhancing the visitors’ tour of the museum.
Additional volunteers are being sought by the Cranwell Aviation Heritage Museum, to help once it recommences operations in spring. This presents a chance for local inhabitants to interact with the rich aviation legacy of the region.
