Patients endure cold nights as heating fails at Lincoln County Hospital

Patients at Lincoln County Hospital have been furnished with supplementary blankets and portable heaters due to a malfunction with the heating system. Melanie Clark, who was admitted to the hospital on 17 November, disclosed that the heating had been faulty since she arrived. Employees of the hospital made efforts to curb the chill by insulating windows with sheets and blankets to ward off draughts. Despite being layered with six blankets, Clark stated that the ward remained exceedingly chilly. A representative of the Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG) expressed regret for any discomfort, reassuring that technical experts are on the site addressing the problem and that actions are being taken to improve patient comfort.

Clark, who is staying in the surgical admissions lounge, mentioned that several patients have voiced concerns regarding the frigid conditions. Describing the adjoining bay as being even colder, she detailed how bedding was being used to insulate against draughts from the windows. Clark added, highlighting the struggle to stay warm, “It is really uncomfortable when you are trying to recuperate.”

Beverley Clark, Melanie’s mother, voiced her anxiety due to recent declines in temperatures and the state of patients already in frailer health. The LCHG representative reaffirmed their dedication to rapidly rectify the heating issue, assuring that the situation is being managed and solutions are actively being devised.
