Abandoned Fair Ride Among Rubbish Found Near Scunthorpe

A derelict fairground ride was found abandoned on the edge of the M180 around Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, as reported by National Highways. This unusual item is one of an estimated 8,000 items discarded on A roads and motorways across Yorkshire and the North East just this year. Among the other items discovered were building materials, car parts, and tyres. The fairground ride was discovered by traffic officer Andrew Richards, who noted the unexpected sight of Mickey Mouse peeking out from the undergrowth. Mr Richards shared he was reminded of a recent trip to Disney World. According to Nicola Clayton, regional safety programme manager at National Highways, the removal of these items often necessitates road closures, posing a potential risk to driver safety. This incident serves to draw attention to the undiminished problem of roadside littering, which presents a threat to both the environment and motorists.
