Grimsby Man Sentenced to 22 Years for Historic Sex Offences

A 77-year-old Grimsby man, Edward Sherriff, has been handed a 22-year prison sentence after being found guilty of numerous historic sexual offences. The conviction followed a trial that took place in July, wherein it was revealed that Mr Sherriff committed as many as 19 sexual offences. His victims included three individuals, with the crimes involving child rape of a person under 13 years of age and multiple sexual assaults. The verdict was announced at the Grimsby Crown Court, and alongside his prison term, Sherriff was also slapped with an indefinite sexual harm prevention order as well as a restraining order. In addition to these punitive actions, he is required to register as a sex offender. The reporting of this case was originally covered by the BBC.
