A Week of Festive Spirit and Heartfelt Community Action in Lincolnshire

Over the past week, Lincolnshire has embodied an atmosphere of festive cheer, communal spirit, and unwavering fortitude. From Scunthorpe to Stamford, a series of heartwarming activities and endeavours have epitomised the robust community ethos that characterises our revered region during these festive times.

In Scunthorpe, the golden nostalgia of past times was resuscitated as John King’s 1956 Christmas lights persistently shone bright, symbolising lasting joy and reminiscence. However, in Boston, a less celebratory event transpired with CCTV footage recording a ‘Grinch’ pilfering a community Christmas tree. The community team has appealed for its return, demonstrating that even a Grinch cannot dampen our Lincolnshire Christmas spirit.

Pioneering future community-led ventures, the Barton Neighbourhood Plan gained approval, creating a model for Lincolnshire communities. The plan has been celebrated as a mirror of what is most valued by inhabitants – their legacy, their green landscapes, and their quality of living.

An equivalent sense of community conservation was observed in Cleethorpes, where the rejuvenation of Pier Gardens flags a hopeful chance for local revitalisation. The festive enthusiasm was also in complete flow in Stamford, with locals gearing up to sing and revel at the forthcoming Wassailing Workshop.

Further afield in Scunthorpe, the Scunny Bikers brought pleasure to the children at the Scunthorpe Hospital, confirming yet again that motorcycles and cheer make for a delightful pairing.

Furthermore, the ‘Just Don’t’ campaign was initiated to address discourtesy towards women in Lincolnshire, a laudable project that prompts us to persist in our efforts for respect and equality within our community.

Lastly, whilst we indulge in the season’s celebrations, we pay tribute to those we have lost, with recent funeral notices serving as touching tributes to the dearly missed individuals no longer with us. In conclusion, here’s a toast to a week in Lincolnshire that genuinely mirrors the spirit, resilience, and unity of our community.
