The recent unveiling of a brand new boardwalk at Waters’ Edge Country Park in Barton-upon-Humber promises to afford locals and tourists alike improved access to the park’s stunning natural scenery. The boardwalk, completed over the summer season at a total expense of £77,000, creates essential links between the Visitor Centre, several walking trails, and a number of crucial viewpoints throughout the wetlands. This progressively offers a much richer experience of the great outdoors.
In expressing this, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, Rob Waltham, stated his belief that the development will stimulate local residents to make more use of the outdoors, especially as many are searching for uncomplicated methods of staying in shape and revitalising their spirits. Waltham went on to say, “This investment enables a greater number of people to take pleasure in nature, literally on their doorstep.”
Backed by governmental funding, the idea for the project was generated as part of a wider cause to incentivise healthier living patterns and reinforce tourism in the local vicinity. Pointing out the significance of such schemes, Councillor Christine Patterson, asserted that eliminating obstacles that prevent participation in outdoor pursuits can bear considerable influence on an individual’s health and wellbeing. She added “Fresh air and getting out and about, are crucial, particularly at this time of year”, whilst also underscoring that the boardwalk makes an ideal venue for wintertime walks, dog walking, or just to cherish a calm and peaceful moment.
