In the past week, we’ve observed a mixture of triumphs and setbacks on the Lincolnshire sports scene, providing ample fodder for our Sunday dinner discussions. Kicking off our review, you might have noticed a conspicuous absence of football this past Saturday. Fans of Scunthorpe United may have found themselves double-checking their diaries due to an unforeseen bout of winter weather that rendered the pitches at Boreham Wood and Scunthorpe unusable. It appears that nature had the final say on this occasion, necessitating a postponement of the National League games. Whilst we’re conscious that the show must go on, the safety of our players takes precedence. So let’s wrap up warm and keep our fingers crossed for milder conditions in the coming weekends.
Switching gears, Lincoln City was practising discretion of a different sort during the week. New addition to the Imps, Josh Honohan, has joined the ranks from the Shamrock Rovers, albeit with an accompanying injury. Jez George, Imps’ Director of Football, has reassured fans of the club’s intention to take a ‘patient’ approach with Honohan’s rehabilitation. This demonstrates the strong values embedded within our Lincoln community, placing importance on each player’s worth and individual significance. Whilst we’re all keen to witness Honohan make his debut on the pitch, we’re equally eager to see him at peak performance. We wish Josh a speedy recovery and look forward to his participation in upcoming matches.
So, whether we’re contending with unpredicted weather conditions or managing a new entry’s injury, it’s clear that Lincolnshire sports is about more than just the end result. It encompasses the essence of the sport, the well-being of our athletes, and the passion of our community. It’s an element for us all to rally behind, irrespective of the weather’s disposition. Until the following week, take care Lincoln!
