It was acknowledged by the prosecutors that Harris lacked the motive to end Howson’s life, but they sustained the viewpoint that his actions were nonetheless illicit. This has resulted in a manslaughter charge against Harris. Later on, Harris approached a police officer, pleading self-defence and alleging that Howson had confronted him in a hostile manner.
The jury has been tasked with the duty of ascertaining whether Harris’s response was indeed in the course of self-defence. The judgement is yet to be reached as the trial continues.
