Alan Thompson and Jane Innes, friends since childhood, have re-connected as ‘best friends’ after reuniting at Green Synergy, a community support hub in Lincoln. Thompson, now 71, first attended Green Synergy two years ago and was reacquainted with Innes, 70. She had been partaking in the services offered by the hub for over five years.
Green Synergy, situated on Roman Pavement, provides a welcoming inclusive space, as well as advice and practical support, establishing it as an integral component of the community. Recently, the hub benefited from a £5,000 grant courtesy of National Grid. The funding will enhance their warm spaces initiative, which currently entails the distribution of blankets and hot water bottles to those in need.
Wendy Slater, the present Community engagement co-ordinator, emphasised the integral trust and support offered by the charity. Green Synergy is known for their crucial role providing assistance to vulnerable community members facing issues such as poverty, loneliness, and isolation.
Beyond that, the charity also maintain community gardens to boost mental health and general wellbeing. Slater voiced her pride in the way individuals have utilised the support to enrich their lives. She further noted the undeniable sense of community that pervades Green Synergy.
